 Bare Root Trees

Bare Root Trees for 2022 will be arriving in store between 9th and 15th June.

Give us a call to find out if we will have the trees you are looking for.

A huge range and expert advice for success with your bare root planting.

What is Bare Root?

A bare root tree is exactly as it sounds - a tree with no leaves and the roots bare from soil (exposed). The trees (like any nursery tree) may be grown from seedling or budded or grafted. Bare root trees are grown in paddocks for two years and then when dormant in winter trees are dug from the ground.

Most deciduous plants are available bare rooted in winter including roses, fruiting, and ornamental trees.

What options do we have?

We carry a wide selection of bare root trees to ensure your garden has it all.

See below to find out more.

Fruit trees combine form and function to add beauty to your landscape while also giving you delicious treats. You can find a number of different fruit tree varieties from our nursery. We have the old favourites; apple, peach, plum, nectarine and pear trees as well as a great range of dwarf and semi-dwarf varieties to suit even the smallest gardens.

Why choose bare root trees?

SUCCESS: Winter is a great time for planting in general. For ease of planting, watering and for giving the plants time to adjust to their new homes before the heat of summer.

For less shock to the plant.

Experience shows us with quality products, expert advice and following a clear process growing from bare root is a successful investment.

Roots of bare root trees thrive when planted in your garden, when breaking dormancy the roots will quickly and easily adapt to their new home.

VARIETY: Bare root season is the re-stocking period for all deciduous trees in our nursery. This is the time of year you will find the largest range in stock.

COST: Bare root is a cost effective choice for people planning to plant a substantial amount of trees.

EFFORT: Transporting and planting Bare Root trees is far less physically demanding than working with advanced fully leafed trees.

And, for the waste conscious purchasing without a pot is another advantage – especially if buying large numbers

BARE ROOT 2022

While now is the time you are thinking about what trees you will plant bare root, we had to plan for our bare root trees in 2021 – our orders had to be placed with suppliers in Oct -Nov.

The growers planned this years’ batch in 2019 (possibly even 2018).

Lots of people are aware that the pandemic created a surge in interest for home produce and home improvement. The growers have to take a guess if this interest would continue into this season. We know the quality from our trusted growers will continue to be the best, but as is often the case the demand for some plants might not be able to be met.

We are encouraging our customers to get in contact with us ASAP to discuss your Bare Root needs.
